GORHAM — Ryan Foley and Dylan Kenney scored three goals apiece to lead the University of Southern Maine to an 11-5 Little East victory over UMass-Boston in men’s lacrosse Tuesday.

Steve Ribero added a pair of goals and Will Hallisey collected two assists for the Huskies (5-9, 2-4).

USM keeper Ryan Hatch made eight saves against the Beacons (2-12, 1-5) to earn his first win of the season.

BASEBALL

HUSSON 14, SOUTHERN MAINE 10: Shawn Smith hit his second three-run homer of the game to break a 10-10 tie in the top of the eighth inning as the Eagles (19-16) pulled away from the Huskies (16-16) at Gorham.

Brett Barrett hit a pair of doubles and finished with three hits for the Huskies.

COLBY SWEEPS THOMAS: RBI triples from Ray Zeek and Brendan Gallagher brought in the winning runs for Colby (15-14) as the Mules posted 4-3 and 8-2 wins over Thomas College (24-15) at Waterville.

Zeek’s triple knocked in two runs in the top of the fifth for the Mules for a 4-3 lead. Abhi Chandel was credited with the win.

In game two, the Terriers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Gallagher’s two-run triple to right field gave Colby the lead for good.

Colby’s Scott Goldberg, the winning pitcher, struck out six.

BATES SWEEPS UM-FARMINGTON: Mike Ciummei and Ryan Curit each had four hits and drove in one run apiece, and Dean Bonneau pitched four shutout innings to lead the Bobcats (18-15) to an 8-1 victory over the Beavers (8-28) in the opening game at Farmington.

In game two, Kevin Davis went 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, five RBI and three runs scored as Bates cruised to a 10-1 victory.

SOFTBALL

SOUTHERN MAINE SPLITS WITH UMASS-BOSTON: Caitlin LeBorgne led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Kayla Kennedy to lift the Huskies (4-30, 2-8) to a 2-1 win over the Beacons (15-15, 3-9) in the opening game of a Little East doubleheader at Gorham.

Stefanie Stockwell struck out six in pitching a five-hitter for the Huskies.

In game two, the Beacons pounded 15 hits in an 11-6 win.

UNE SPLITS WITH NICHOLS: Casey Brigham drove in a pair of runs for the Nor’easters (21-11, 13-5) as they earned a split against the Bison (15-19, 10-8) with a 9-1 win in game two of a Commonwealth Coast doubleheader at Biddeford.

Amanda Vaudreuil hit a pair of homers and drove in three runs for the Nor’easters in a 10-7 loss in the opener.
