READING, Pa. — Backup infielder Miguel Abreu homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs as the Reading Phillies avoided a three-game sweep with a 7-3 victory Wednesday afternoon over the Portland Sea Dogs.
The Sea Dogs led 2-0 in the fourth inning before the Phillies scored three times, using a pair of bunt singles and Abreu’s two-run double off Chris Hernandez.
Hernandez (2-3) took the loss, allowing seven hits and five runs, four earned, over six innings.
The Sea Dogs were limited to six hits by four Reading pitchers, and went hitless over the final six innings.
