CUMBERLAND – Greely scored eight runs in the first inning Wednesday and prepared to enter the Western Class B baseball tournament as the top seed with an 11-2 victory against Fryeburg Academy in a Western Maine Conference game.

Mike Leeman, Connor Russell and Sam Porter combined on a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no earned runs for the Rangers (15-1).

Jonah Normandeau and Liam Maker each drove in a run on consecutive doubles, and Leeman capped the rally with a three-run homer against the Raiders (8-8).

Bailey Train hit a two-run double in the third for Greely.

WELLS 5, LAKE REGION 1: Brandon Pridham struck out seven and scattered eight hits, and also had a pair of hits and drove in a run to lead the Warriors (9-7) over the Lakers (3-13) at Wells.

Louis DiTomasso added a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run for Wells.

SOUTH PORTLAND 2, WESTBROOK 1: Jon Vickers scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on a double by Brendan Horton as the Red Riots (6-10) edged the Blue Blazes (11-5) at Westbrook.

OCEANSIDE 3, LEAVITT 2: Dan Hendricks had a two-run double in the second inning and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on a single by Dylan Maloney as the Mariners (9-7) edged the Hornets (9-7) at Rockland.

YARMOUTH 2, YORK 1: Max Grimm drove in his 29th run on a one-out single in the seventh inning for the Clippers (10-6) against the Wildcats (4-12) at Yarmouth.

In the seventh, Kevin Haley pinch ran for Ryan Cody, who drew a one-out walk. A bunt single and an intentional walk loaded the bases before Grimm ended it.

GARDINER 3, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Joshua Ouellette and Hunter Belanger combined to pitch a seven-hitter for the Tigers (8-8), who took advantage of 10 walks to edge the Eagles (10-5-1) at Newcastle.

BIDDEFORD 12, NOBLE 8: The Tigers (8-8) rallied for seven runs in the sixth inning and beat the Knights (4-12) at Biddeford.

Taylor Reuillard and Nathan McKeown each hit two-run doubles in the sixth. 

MASSABESIC 9, KENNEBUNK 2: Sean Adams and Jacob Pelchat hit two-run singles during an eight-run fifth inning to lead the Mustangs (7-9) over the Rams (6-10) at Kennebunk.

Hunter Duncan struck out six, walked one and scattered nine hits for Massabesic.

CAPE ELIZABETH 3, POLAND 0: Sam Kozlowski and Will Leblond combined to pitch a four-hit shutout, and Max Gore had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Capers (8-8), who scored three times in the eighth inning to defeat the Knights (7-9) at Poland.

Jake Simard struck out five and walked one for Poland.

SCARBOROUGH 5, PORTLAND 1: Joe Cronin struck out nine in a three-hitter, and Nick Bagley had a pair of hits and drove in three runs to lead the Red Storm (14-2) over the Bulldogs (5-11) at Scarborough.

WAYNFLETE 16, TRAIP ACADEMY 1: Joey Schnier faced just two batters over the minimum in a three-hitter, and Mitch Newlin finished with four hits and two RBI to lead the Flyers (10-5) to a six-inning win over the Rangers (4-11) at Kittery.

Andrew Butler added three hits and two RBI for Waynflete, which took control with five runs in the first and three in the second.

 

GORHAM 4, DEERING 1: Dylan Turner hit a sacrifice fly for Gorham (4-12), which also scored runs on two wild pitches and an error to down Deering (4-12) at Portland.

T.J. Grey went 2 for 3 with a double for Deering.

KENNEBUNK 10, DEERING 4: Sean Foley scored four goals, and Harrison Hall added two goals and two assists as Kennebunk (9-3) defeated Deering (7-5) at Portland.

Kennebunk also got two goals and one assist from Clayton Spang and one goal and two assists from Blake Dowe.

GREELY 8, YORK 6: Brooks Belisle had three goals, including the go-ahead goal in the final minute, as the Rangers (8-4) topped the Wildcats (7-5) at Cumberland.

Shane Hughes made it 6-6 with 3:15 left with his third goal of the game. Paul Witte got the final goal with 13 seconds left.

MASSABESIC 12, WESTBROOK 11: Stephen Chaves had four goals and three assists, and Aaron Gass and Pat Wyman added two goals and one assist apiece as the Mustangs (5-7) held off the Blue Blazes (7-5) at Waterboro.

Jake DeRochers also scored twice for Massabesic.

MARSHWOOD 10, CHEVERUS 9: Jeff Hatheway scored the winning goal in the second overtime, and finished with four goals and two assists to lead the Hawks (11-2) over the Stags (8-5) at South Berwick.

Austin Hale added two goals and two assists, and Jeff Graunke scored twice for Marshwood.

SCARBOROUGH 15, THORNTON ACADEMY 4: John Wheeler had six goals and two assists, and Jon Blaisdell finished with three goals and four assists as the Red Storm (11-1) cruised past the Trojans (9-3) at Scarborough.

Ryan Pallotta added four goals for Scarborough. Greg Lodge had two goals and an assist for Thornton.

WAYNFLETE 14, FREEPORT 12: Chris Burke had five goals to lead the Flyers (5-7) over the Falcons (2-10) at Freeport.

Henry Cleaves finished with four goals and six assists, and Will Cleaves scored twice for the Flyers.

WELLS 16, LAKE REGION 4: Spencer Sibley had nine goals and Brandon Morton added three as the Warriors (8-4) handled the Lakers (2-10) at Naples.

Ryan Skillern, Ryan Chute, Zach Tidd and R.J. Legere scored for Lake Region.
