LEWISTON — The Sanford boys track and field team won its first Class A state title Wednesday after senior Nick Wall took second in the pole vault at Bates College in Lewiston.
The event was won by Kevin Manning of Scarborough, who cleared 13 feet. Wall vaulted 12 feet 6 inches to tie for second with Brewer’s Joseph Hayden.
Cheverus finished second with 65 points behind Sanford, which had 76. Bonny Eagle was third with 57.
The meet was continued on Wednesday, with the vault being held in a dry venue, after Saturday’s rain created unsafe conditions at Windham High School.
