LEWISTON — Lewiston police are investigating what they say was a late night fight and possible stabbing but they have not been able to find any suspects or a victim.

Officers responded to the neighborhood near the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul at about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday after getting a report of a fight in a parking lot involving about six people.

By the time they arrived, the people had dispersed.

Sgt. Randy St. Laurent tells the Sun Journal police with the help of dogs searched the surrounding neighborhood for a victim who might be in need of medical attention. Neither hospital in the city had reported treating a stabbing victim.

Witnesses are being interviewed to try and determine exactly what happened.
