BOSTON — State police say one person died and another injured after a crash on Interstate 93 northbound in Boston near the entrance to the Tip O’Neill Tunnel.
Troopers say the person who died in Sunday morning’s accident was driving a pickup truck the wrong way on the highway after entering at Frontage Road and crashed into an SUV.
Authorities say the pickup driver was ejected and later pronounced dead at Tufts Medical Center. The SUV driver is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The driver in a third car involved in the accident wasn’t hurt.
State police haven’t released the drivers’ names.
The accident happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. Police closed the entire northbound side of the highway for less than an hour. All lanes were reopened shortly before 8:30 a.m.
