NEW YORK – Raul Ibanez hit his second home run of the game during a startling rally in the 13th inning, and first baseman Brandon Moss’ two-out error in the 14th allowed the New York Yankees to complete a 10-9 win over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
The AL East leaders came back to hold their one-game edge over Baltimore. Down 9-5 in the 13th, the Yankees won for just the second time in team history after trailing by at least four runs in extra innings.

Moments after pinch-runner Melky Mesa — in his big league debut — missed third base and had to retreat, the Yankees found another way to win. Moss let a bases-loaded grounder by Eduardo Nunez skip off his glove, allowing Ichiro Suzuki to score.
TIGERS 8, TWINS 0: Miguel Cabrera hit his 42nd homer, putting him in Triple Crown position, and Doug Fister pitched his first career shutout to help Detroit win at home.
Cabrera’s solo shot in the fourth inning tied him with Texas star Josh Hamilton for the most homers in the AL. Cabrera has a relatively comfortable league lead with a .332 batting average and 131 RBI.
ANGELS 4, WHITE SOX 2: Mark Trumbo capped a four-run first inning with a two-run single, and Dan Haren earned his first win at home in more than a month as Los Angeles trimmed visiting Chicago’s AL Central lead to a half-game over Detroit.
The Angels are 2½ games behind Oakland in the wild-card race.
RAYS 11, BLUE JAYS 5: B.J. Upton and Jose Molina homered during a six-run fifth inning, and Tampa Bay beat visiting Toronto for its fourth consecutive victory, closing to within 3½ games of Oakland in the wild-card race.
MARINERS 1, RANGERS 0: Michael Saunders hit a solo home run in the second inning, and former Texas prospect Blake Beavan threw seven shutout innings at Seattle.
ROYALS 5, INDIANS 3: Billy Butler hit a run-scoring single in the first inning to reach 100 RBI for the first time as Kansas City won at home.

REDS 6, DODGERS 0: Jay Bruce’s 34th homer put Cincinnati ahead to stay, and the Reds beat visiting Los Angeles to win the NL Central title.
GIANTS 8, PADRES 4: Marco Scutaro had three hits and three RBI as San Francisco clinched its second NL West title in three years.
BRAVES 8, PHILLIES 2: Freddie Freeman hit a three-run homer to back Mike Minor, and visiting Atlanta roughed up Roy Halladay to move closer to clinching a postseason berth.
CARDINALS 5, CUBS 4: Carlos Beltran hit a tying home run in the ninth inning, and Jon Jay’s RBI double in the 10th lifted St. Louis to a win at Chicago, increasing the Cardinals’ lead for the second NL wild-card spot to 2½ games over Milwaukee.
NATIONALS 10, BREWERS 4: Gio Gonzalez became the majors’ first 20-game winner and the first Washington pitcher with 200 strikeouts since Walter Johnson in 1916, beating visiting Milwaukee.
DIAMONDBACKS 8, ROCKIES 7: Aaron Hill tripled and drove in four runs, and Jason Kubel had two hits and two RBI for Arizona in a win at Denver.
ASTROS 4, PIRATES 1: Jason Castro hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning and Houston handed visiting Pittsburgh its fifth straight loss.
METS 4, MARLINS 3: R.A. Dickey earned his 19th victory with a strong performance, Jason Bay and Scott Hairston homered, and New York barely held on in the ninth inning for its second straight home win.
