HERSHEY, Pa. – Michael Stone scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and also collected an assist as the Portland Pirates earned a 3-1 victory Sunday over the Hershey Bears in front of a crowd of 7,810 at the Giant Center.
Hershey’s Tomas Kundratek scored a power-play goal 6:18 into the game, while Stone was serving a penalty for cross checking.
The Pirates, playing their third road game in three days, tied it with six minutes left in the opening period on a goal by Andy Miele, assisted by Chris Conner and Stone.
Stone put the Pirates ahead at 10:36 of the second period, with assists from Jordan Szwarz and Mathieu Brodeur.
Brodeur picked up a second assist when Alexandre Bolduc closed out the scoring at 10:05 of the third period.
Portland goalie Chad Johnson made 22 saves. Braden Holtby finished with 31 saves for Hershey.
