PORTLAND – Chelsea Rollins finished with 15 saves for Portland and Anna Niedermeyer made nine saves for Cheverus as the city rivals fought to a scoreless deadlock in an SMAA girls’ soccer match Friday at Cheverus.

Cheverus (1-5-1) nearly scored late in the second half on a free kick, but Olivia Mull’s header on a pass from Abi Goodrich hit the crossbar.

Portland is 3-2-1.

THORNTON ACADEMY 4, MARSHWOOD 1: Katherine Gillespie scored eight minutes into the match to start the Trojans (6-1) on their way to a win over the Hawks (5-2) at South Berwick.

The Trojans struck again 10 minutes into the second half with a goal from Haley DaGraca. Gillespie scored four minutes later on a penalty kick, and Brooke Cross made it 4-0.

The Hawks got one back on a penalty kick from Hannah Folger.

SANFORD 4, WESTBROOK 3: Sydney Littlefield’s goal with 3:11 remaining capped Sanford’s comeback from a 3-1 deficit as the Spartans (1-5) edged the visiting Blue Blazes (1-6).

Kaela Godwin, Morgan Fogg and Vanessa Hodge also scored for Sanford, and Laura Kirkpatrick assisted on the final two goals by Hodge and Littlefield.

Jenessa Corbet, Sophie Manning and Marissa Martel tallied a goal apiece for Westbrook.

POLAND 2, WAYNFLETE 1: Sarah Bolduc scored a pair of first-half goals and the Knights (4-2) held on to edge the Flyers (4-1-1) at Portland.

Waynflete cut the deficit to one in the second half on a goal by Ella Millard.

Poland keeper Erin Brewer made 10 saves. Juliana Harwood stopped five shots for Waynflete.

NYA 3, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Melanie Regan scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Panthers (4-2-1) over the Hawks (3-4) at Yarmouth.

Chloe Leishman produced the Panthers’ third goal.

BRUNSWICK 5, SKOWHEGAN 1: Lena Martin scored twice as the Dragons (4-3) beat the Indians (0-7) at Skowhegan.

Julia Champagne, Madeline Cowan and Caley Nicholson also scored for Brunswick. Cowan had two assists.

HIGHVIEW CHRISTIAN 5, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 1: Reagan Paul and Emily O’Rouke scored two goals apiece to lead the Knights (3-2) past the Lions (0-5) at South Portland.

Heather Hazel scored for the Lions.

FIELD HOCKEY

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, LAKE REGION 1: Taylor Herrera scored 6:56 into the second overtime as the Capers (7-2) escaped with a victory over the Lakers (6-3) at Naples.

Hannah Newhall scored a first-half goal for the Capers. Lucy Fowler sent the game into overtime, scoring unassisted with 45 seconds left in regulation.

Lake Region goalie Meghan VanLoan made two saves, while Mary DiPietro stopped three shots for Cape.

KENNEBUNK 1, GREELY 1: Mimi Lyon-Edmondson scored the tying goal midway through the second half as Greely (3-5-1) rallied for a draw against visiting Kennebunk (5-3-1).

Jackie Murphy put the Rams ahead in the final minute of the first half.

FREEPORT 1, POLAND 0: Bailey Coffin scored eight minutes into the second half to lift the Falcons (3-6) over the Knights (1-7) at Freeport.

Abby Smith set up the goal. Morgan Karnes completed the shutout with five saves.

TRAIP ACADEMY 2, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Sarah Noble scored the go-ahead goal early in the second half to lift the Rangers (4-3-1) over the Hawks (0-6-1) at South Hiram.

Lydia Hubbard opened the scoring for Sacopee four minutes into the game. Kaylie Andrews got the equalizer five minutes later.

Sacopee keeper Chloe Ronco finished with nine saves.

PORTLAND 3, BONNY EAGLE 0: Portland (2-7) scored three goals in the first half and shut out the Scots (4-3-2) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

The Bulldogs took the lead 2:40 into the contest when Lauren McIntyre converted a penalty stroke. Gabrielle Wagabaza made it 2-0 midway through the half, and Elina Finberg scored the third goal five minutes later.

Gianna Gaudet made five saves for the shutout. Ashlynn Wintle saved five shots for the Scots.

CHEVERUS 8, MCAULEY 0: Becca Archer scored three goals to lead Cheverus (7-2) past host McAuley (0-9).

Hattie Train added two goals, while Sophia Giancotti, Emily Michaud and Alex Logan scored a goal apiece.

McAuley goalie Aketch Allording finished with 44 saves.

VOLLEYBALL

SCARBOROUGH 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: The Red Storm (7-0) won the opening set 25-6 and cruised to a win over the Red Riots (0-8) at South Portland.

Holly Black led South Portland with seven digs and four kills. The Riots took the final two sets 25-15 and 25-13.
