EDMONTON, Alberta — Jarome Iginla scored a pair of goals, and the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins held on to defeat the West cellar-dwelling Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Thursday night.

Dennis Seidenberg and Brad Marchand also had goals for the Bruins (22-8-2), who have won four in a row and eight of 10. Backup goalie Chad Johnson made 39 saves.

David Perron netted both goals for the Oilers (11-19-3), who have lost two of three. They dropped to 6-10-2 at home.

Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk whiffed on a long shot from the blue line by Seidenberg, who sent the puck in while his team made a line change at 10:25 of the first period.

Boston plays next Saturday in Vancouver.

FLYERS 2, CANADIENS 1: Michael Raffl and Claude Giroux scored the goals and Steve Mason faced just 21 shots as Philadelphia snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Montreal at home.

The Canadiens have lost two in a row after going 9-0-1.

LIGHTNING 2, RED WINGS 1: Martin St. Louis scored in the sixth round of the shootout as Tampa Bay won at home.

St. Louis netted the lone shootout goal when he beat Jonas Gustavsson to the stick side. Detroit, which has lost all six of its shootouts this season, failed this time against Ben Bishop.

Nikita Kucherov scored for the Lightning in regulation. Kyle Quincey had the Red Wings’ only goal of the night.

BLUES 6, MAPLE LEAFS 3: David Backes scored twice and Jaden Schwartz added a goal and two assists to lead St. Louis to a win at home.

Alexander Steen, Derek Roy and Chris Stewart scored for St. Louis, which has points in its last six games against Toronto. The teams met for the first time since Nov. 10, 2011.

AVALANCHE 4, JETS 3: Matt Duchene and P.A. Parenteau scored in the shootout, and Colorado stopped a two-game losing skid with a win at Winnepeg, Manitoba.

Duchene also scored twice and added an assist in regulation. Ryan O’Reilly had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche (21-9).

Blake Wheeler scored twice, Michael Frolik added another goal, and Grant Clitsome had a pair of assists for Winnipeg (14-14-5).

PREDATORS 3, STARS 1: David Legwand had a goal and an assist to lead Nashville to a win at home.

Patric Hornqvist and Paul Gaustad also scored for Nashville, which has won two straight. Carter Hutton made 33 saves.

Erik Cole had the goal for Dallas, which has lost three of four.

BLUE JACKETS 4, RANGERS 2: Matt Calvert, Artem Anisimov and David Savard scored in the first 11:10, as visiting Columbus sent New York to its fourth straight loss.

SENATORS 2, SABRES 1: Craig Anderson stopped 40 shots in a win at Ottawa, Ontario.

Bobby Ryan and Zack Smith scored for the Senators, who have earned at least a point in four straight games.

FLAMES: Jay Feaster has been fired as general manager, with the team in next-to-last place in the Western Conference.

Assistant GM John Weisbrod also was let go. Brian Burke, the team’s president of hockey operations, will serve as acting general manager.

A long-ago Maine Mariner who served as general manager of Hartford, Vancouver, Anaheim and Toronto, Burke said the moves were needed to get the franchise back on track toward a championship.

Calgary did not make the playoffs in Feaster’s two full seasons as GM.

Burke was hired by the Flames in early September following his dismissal from the Maple Leafs.

DUCKS: Defenseman Alex Grant has been reassigned to the minors despite scoring a goal on each of his first two NHL shots.

The Pacific Division-leading Ducks also reassigned center David Steckel and defenseman Nolan Yonkman to their Norfolk AHL affiliate.

HURRICANES: Carolina activated forward Alexander Semin from injured reserve after he missed 12 games with a concussion suffered Nov. 16 at St. Louis.

KINGS: Goaltender Jonathan Quick, who hasn’t played since he strained a groin muscle on Nov. 12, remains on pace to play for the U.S. Olympic team at the Sochi Games.
