Clement lifts Falmouth to overtime victory against Greely in boys’ Dudley Cup

Andrew Clement scored three goals, including the winner at 3:13 of overtime, to lead the Falmouth boys’ hockey team to a 4-3 win over Greely in the Dudley Cup at Family Ice Center in Falmouth.

Josh Noyes assisted on the OT goal. Tyler Jordan added a goal and an assist, and Hunter Low had two assists for the Yachtsmen (5-2).

Galen Arnold, Andrew Ray and Nathan Gervais scored for the Rangers (1-2-1).

GIRLS’ HOCKEY: Ellie Schad scored her second goal of the game on an assist from Erin Molloy at 4:14 of overtime to lift Greely (6-1) to a 2-1 win over Falmouth (5-3) at in the Dudley Cup at Family Ice.

Camden Carrier scored short-handed for the Yachtsmen at 12:15 of the first period. Schad netted the equalizer 11:27 into the second.

BASKETBALL

NBA D-LEAGUE: Celtics guard MarShon Brooks is being reassigned to the Maine Red Claws, according to the team’s website.

Brooks has played sparingly with the Celtics this year, appearing in nine games and averaging 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 6.8 minutes.

He was drafted by the Celtics in 2011, traded to Brooklyn and landed back in Boston this summer.

SPEEDSKATING

U.S. TRIALS: Maria Lamb earned her third trip to the Olympics by winning the 5,000 meters at the U.S. speedskating trials.

Lamb dominated the 11-skater field in the longest women’s race with a winning time of 7 minutes, 13.31 seconds. She finished more than 7 seconds ahead of runner-up Petra Acker.

The 27-year-old Lamb overcame breathing issues and a severe migraine that sent her to a hospital emergency room two days earlier.

TENNIS

QATAR OPEN: Third-seeded Andy Murray, playing in his first tournament since back surgery in September, was upset by Florian Mayer of Germany 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round at Doha.

Top-ranked Rafael Nadal was also taken to three sets but earned a 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3 win over Tobias Kamke of Germany, while second-seeded David Ferrer joined Murray in an early exit with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Daniel Brands of Germany.

BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL: Roger Federer opened 2014 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Jarkko Nieminen to advance to the quarterfinals at Brisbane, Australia.

Awaiting Federer is Australia’s Marinko Matosevic, who beat American Sam Querrey, 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-4.

CHENNAI OPEN: Top-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland advanced comfortably but second-seeded Mikhail Youzhny of Russia quit during his second-round match due to a stomach infection at Chennai, India.

SHENZHEN OPEN: Top-seeded Li Na romped to a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Ukraine’s Nadiya Kichenok on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals at Shenzhen, China. American Vania King also advanced, upsetting second-seeded Sara Errani of Italy, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-3.
