Madeline Hasson scored 10 of her 25 points in the second quarter Friday night as South Portland took control and went on to a 72-56 victory against Cheverus in an SMAA schoolgirl basketball game at Keegan Gym.

Lydia Henderson added 16 points and Holly Black had 10 for South Portland (9-3), which used a 25-10 run in the second to build a 38-20 lead.

Jess Willerson scored 15 for Cheverus (8-4). Georgia Ford and Laura Holman each had 10. 

BRUNSWICK 68, BREWER 49: Gillian Doehring scored a career-high 16 points with five rebounds, Lyse Henshaw also had 16 points with five rebounds and six assists, and the Dragons (8-5) beat the Witches (1-11) at Brunswick to earn Coach Sam Farrell his 100th win.

Madeline Suhr added 12 points, also a career high, for Brunswick.

Maddy Bailey led Brewer with 14 points.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 52, FREEPORT 39: Skye Dole scored 10 points to lead nine scorers for the Raiders (5-6) against the Falcons (4-8) at Fryeburg.

Nicole Bennett added 10 points and Alexis L’Heureux-Carland finished with eight for the Raiders, who went ahead 45-27 with a 19-8 run in the third quarter.

Nina Davenport of Freeport scored her 1,000th career point on a free throw in the fourth quarter. Davenport, who was 11 of 15 from the free-throw line, ended with 17 points and now has 1,003. 

GORHAM 56, NOBLE 29: Abby Hamilton scored 18 of her 23 points in the first quarter as the Rams (8-4) took a 24-12 lead against the Knights (0-12) at North Berwick.

Emily Esposito added 10 points for Gorham. Amber Kelly had 12 for Noble. 

CAPE ELIZABETH 54, KENNEBUNK 16: Hannah Sawyer had 10 points and eight rebounds to lead the Capers (8-4) over Kennebunk (1-12) at Cape Elizabeth.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 40, MEDOMAK VALLEY 29: Barrett Campbell scored 15 points and Taylor Oliver added 11 to lead the Eagles (9-2) past the Panthers (8-3) at Waldoboro.

Hannah Marks paced Medomak Valley with 15 points. 

WINDHAM 54, MASSABESIC 36: Sadie Nelson had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Eagles (9-3) over the Mustangs (1-11) at Windham.

Nelson scored 16 in the first half, helping Windham take a 29-19 lead.

Jolena Lampron led Massabesic with 17 points. Monica St. Amand had 12. 

MARSHWOOD 45, WESTBROOK 37: Megan McLean scored 13 points, including two pivotal 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, to lead the Hawks (6-5) past the Blue Blazes (3-9) at Westbrook.

Kathleen Locke and Lydia St. Pierre each added seven points for Marshwood.

Alisha Aube led the Blue Blazes with 14 points, Alexis Redmond had eight and Chelsea Rairdon added seven. 

MCAULEY 69, SANFORD 33: Allie Clement finished with 26 points and Victoria Lux added 14 points to lead the Lions (11-1) past the Spartans (4-8) at Sanford.

Morgan Fogg led Sanford with 18. 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 73: OLD ORCHARD BEACH 25: Maria Valente had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Patriots (7-5) over Old Orchard Beach (6-5) at Gray.

Stephanie Greaton also collected 10 rebounds and Skye Conley added 12 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

POLAND 49, WAYNFLETE 34: Sarah Bolduc scored 14 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Knights (8-4) used a 15-5 run to pull away from the Flyers (5-5) at Portland.

Waynflete rallied from an 11-3 first-quarter deficit to take a lead in the second, but Poland shot 9 of 11 from the line in the quarter on the way to a 27-23 halftime lead. 

ST. DOMINIC 66, BOOTHBAY REGION 52: Kelly Pomerleau scored 27 points and Faith Grady had 24 to lead the Saints (11-2) over the Seahawks (5-8) at Boothbay Harbor. 

YORK 62, TRAIP ACADEMY 39: Shannon Todd provided 15 points for York (8-4) against Traip Academy (3-7) in a game at Kittery.

The Wildcats forced turnovers on three consecutive possessions in the second quarter during a 16-7 run. Todd scored seven straight points for York to spur the run.

Paige McElwain added 12 and Chloe Smedley scored 10 for York.

SACOPEE VALLEY 40, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 32: Morgan Sanborn scored 11 points to lead a balanced offense as the Hawks (6-4) overcame a slow start to beat the Panthers (5-6) at South Hiram.

After going scoreless in the first quarter, Sacopee bounced back with an 18-2 run in the second to take an 18-7 lead at halftime.

Charlotte Esancy scored 20 points for NYA. 

MT. ARARAT 43, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 38: Caitlin LaFountain scored 18 points as the Eagles (2-11) downed the Broncos (2-10) in a game at Topsham.

LaFountain had three 2-pointers, three 3-pointers and three free throws. Allison Melcher added eight points for Mt. Ararat.

Erin Murphy led the Broncos with 13 points. 

GREELY 51, YARMOUTH 12: Haley Felkel scored 12 points and Blaise Tardiff had 11, pacing the Rangers (10-2) over the Clippers (3-8) at Yarmouth.
