A Massachusetts man was listed in critical condition at the Maine Medical Center after being injured in a single-car crash that shut down Route 1 in York for three hours early Sunday morning.
York police said Linh Ngoc Lu, 37, of Haverhill was driving north on Route 1 when his BMW sedan left the right side of the road, struck and severed a utility pole and then struck a tree at the Ogunquit and York town line at 1:48 a.m. Sunday.
York Police said it took fire and emergency medical workers 45 minutes to remove Lu from the car. He was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash but the cause is still under investigation.
