KENNEBUNK — Donovan Connor threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Wildes with 26 seconds remaining as Kennebunk secured its first victory of the season, rallying for a 28-22 win Saturday over Oceanside.

Oceanside (0-3) led 22-20 and was driving for a potential clinching score, but Justin Wiggins’ interception with about three minutes remaining set up a 75-yard touchdown drive by Kennebunk. Connor, who had only one completion up to that point, connected with Wildes for an 8-yard gain and Jacob Boothby for a 30-yard completion prior to the winning touchdown. Sean Brennan rushed for the conversion.

Kennebunk (1-2), the reigning Western Class B champion, finished with 308 yards rushing.

The lead changed hands six times after Brennan opened the scoring with a 30-yard run in the first quarter. Brennan also caught an 8-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and rushed for a conversion after a 6-yard TD run by Wildes in the third quarter, giving Kennebunk a 20-14 lead.

Preston Spear answered Wildes’ third-quarter touchdown with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, then caught a conversion pass from Ryan Allendar. Spear also had a 40-yard scoring run in the second quarter.

Oceanside’s first touchdown was a 45-yard pass from Allendar to Elvis Bowen in the second quarter. Spear’s conversion rush put the Mariners ahead 8-6.
