MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Kiersten Turner scored on a 20-yard shot from the right side with about 16 minutes remaining Saturday to give the undefeated Bowdoin College women’s soccer team a 2-1 victory against Middlebury in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game.

The Polar Bears (4-0) took a 1-0 lead at 13:31 of the second half when Amanda Kinneston scored. Middlebury (0-3) tied it 10 minutes later.

SIMMONS 2, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Erin Montambault and Greer Gilbert scored unassisted goals as Simmons (2-4-2, 1-1 Great Northeast Athletic) eased past the Monks (4-5, 1-1) at Standish.

BATES 1, WESLEYAN 0: Julia Rice scored from Maggie Coco nine minutes into overtime as the Bobcats (4-2-0, 2-2-0 NESCAC) beat Wesleyan (0-5-1, 0-2-1) in Lewiston.

GORDON 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Hannah Midwinter and Taylor McSherry each had a goal and an assist in the second half to lift Gordon (6-2, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast) over the Nor’easters (5-1, 1-1) in Biddeford.

UNITY 4, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 0: Mariza Gionfriddo, Ashley Moeller, Alexandra Pesano and Morgan Schroeder scored as the Rams (5-2, 3-1 Yankee Small College) pulled away from Southern Maine Community College at Unity.

COLBY 0, TRINITY 0: Emily Brook recorded her 15th career shutout for the Mules (1-3-1, 0-2-1 NESCAC) in a tie against Trinity (3-2-1, 0-2-1) at Waterville.

UMASS-BOSTON 3, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Kara Peters and Krista Ledin scored as UMass-Boston (3-2-1, 1-0 Little East) used three second-half goals to beat the Huskies (2-5-1, 0-1 Little East) in Gorham.

MIDDLEBURY 2, BOWDOIN 0: Tom Bean headed in Noah Goss-Woliner’s corner kick from 14 yards for a 1-0 lead after 23 minutes and the Panthers (4-0-1, 2-0-1 NESCAC) beat Bowdoin (2-3, 1-3) in Middlebury, Vermont.

GORDON 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Andy Guthrie scored on penalty kick 4:49 into the second half and Evan Crocker made it 2-0 from Daniel Perez 10 minutes later as Gordon (7-0, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Nor’easters (3-2-1, 0-2) in Biddeford.

TRINITY 2, COLBY 0: Will Gittings headed in Mike Cooke’s corner late in the first half, and Tim Shea scored from Cody Savonen late in the second to lift the Bantams (4-1-1, 1-1-1 NESCAC) over Colby (3-3, 0-3) in Hartford, Connecticut.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 0, UNITY 0: Spencer Hoyt had five saves for SMCC (2-4-2, 2-1-1 Yankee Small College), and Brandan Wallace a single save for the Rams (2-5-1, 2-1-1) at Unity.

WESLEYAN 2, BATES 1: Peabo Knoth gave the Bobcats (0-5-1, 0-4-0 NESCAC) a 1-0 lead just over 30 seconds into the game in Lewiston, but Wesleyan (3-1-2, 2-1-0 NESCAC) tied it on a goal from Brandon Sousa in the 18th minute before taking the lead midway through the second half on a shot from Matt Lynch.

MAINE 3, BRYANT 0: Sydney Veljacic, Nicole Sevey and Holly Stewart scored in the final 25 minutes as the Black Bears (2-5) beat Bryant (2-5) in Orono.

TRINITY 3, COLBY 2: Olivia Tapsall scored the tying goal with 3:49 remaining in regulation and Nikki Rivera won it in overtime as Trinity (3-2, 2-1 NESCAC) rallied past the Mules (3-3, 0-3) in Hartford, Connecticut.

WESLEYAN 3, BATES 0: Wesleyan (2-4, 1-2 NESCAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute when Vanessa Block scored on a penalty corner, then added goals by Mackey Hemphill and Hannah Plappert in the final 14 minutes to beat the Bobcats (0-4, 0-4) in Lewiston.

SOUTHERN MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, COLLEGE OF ST. JOSEPH’S SPLIT: Alex Brown had two hits and a pair of RBI to pace SMCC (7-2) to a 4-1 victory in th first game in South Portland. SMCC lost the second game, 3-1.

SOFTBALL

ST. JOSEPH’S (VT.) SWEEPS SOUTHERN MAINE CC: Kathrine Gilio scored the lone run for the Seawolves (4-4) on a single by Hannah Campbell in the sixth inning as they fell 7-1 in the opener in South Portland. In the second game, Anna Allard and Melinda Pye drove in two runs apiece for the Seawolves in a 9-5 loss.
