“Exhibition of the Bells,” 11 a.m. to noon, fundraising ceremony to raise $12,000 to purchase the four bells of St. Louis Church that were cast in the world-famous Paccard Bell Foundry of Annecy, France, and were blessed and installed in 1916 in the church’s New Auburn neighborhood. The bells have since been removed from the bell tower and the campaign plans to create a local heritage monument. The ceremony and viewing of the bells will be held at Cote Crane Co., 2980 Hotel Road, Auburn.

African Gala, 5 to 9 p.m., celebrating African culture with traditional food from several countries, Burundi dancers and drummers, and the Les Voix des Anges choir. Held at Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Church, Mellen and Sherman streets, Portland. Proceeds will benefit the church’s capital campaign, which has raised close to $150,000 of its $200,000 goal. The Mass takes place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Cumberland Avenue, Portland. A luncheon will follow at the Portland Regency Hotel with Justice Joseph M. Jabar of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as keynote speaker. People of all faiths are welcome to attend both the Mass and the luncheon. Other

Two seminarians for the Diocese of Portland have been announced by Bishop Robert P. Deeley. Colby J. Perron of Lisbon and Alex R. Boucher of Biddeford have been accepted as seminarians for the priesthood.

Perron, 17, was born in Lewiston and graduated from Lisbon High School in May. He has been assigned to the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence in Providence, Rhode Island. A member of Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston, he has been an altar server, a member of the choir and served with various youth ministry activities.

Boucher, 24, was born in Portland and was raised primarily in Biddeford. He has been assigned to St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts, in the spring. A graduate of Cheverus High School, he was active in parish life and youth ministry as a teen and served for two years as a member of the Maine Diocesan Council for Catholic Youth. He is studying for a bachelor’s degree in theology and religious studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he also works for two national Catholic organizations and as an intern at the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA. He has also served as a pastoral associate in Portland, providing assistance to the rector of the cathedral and the pastoral life coordinator.
