Wednesday Walkers, 10 a.m., Oct. 22, Boothbay

Join the Wednesday Walkers as they explore the Ovens Mouth West Preserve, a Boothbay Region Land Trust preserve. The hike is moderately difficult and about three miles in length. Meet at the Ovens Mouth trail head on Dover Cross Road in Boothbay. To learn more, call 633-4818.

Eastern Trail Ride, 9 a.m., Oct. 18, Kennebunk

Come discover the Eastern Trail on a ride of the southern section. Meet at Kennebunk Elementary School. The ride will head south on the road, hen make a loop back to the school, covering about 8 to 10 miles. The ride is open to the first 20 riders who register. Riders must be 13 or older; anyone under 18 needs adult signed permission and an adult to accompany them. Helmets are required. To register, contact shawnworks@gmail.com or call 752-1105. The ride will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. When completed, the Eastern Trail will connect the Piscataqua River in Kittery with Bug Light on Casco Bay in South Portland with a 65-mile, mostly off-road greenway. The Eastern Trail follows the route of the historic Eastern Railroad, the first rail line connecting Boston and the Portland area. It extends through 12 communities in York and Cumberland counties. The Eastern Trail is the Southern Maine portion of the 2,900-mile East Coast Greenway, which stretches from Key West, Florida, to Calais. To learn more, go to www.easterntrail.org.

Merrymeeting Audubon will be out birding next weekend. Join them and search for fall migrants in the Wildlife Management Area in Dresden, located off Route 128. Lovell Trails, 9:30 a.m., in Lovell

Join the Greater Lovell Land Trust for a guided walk at the Heald and Bradley Pond Reserve in Lovell. Meet at the Gallie Trail parking lot on Route 5, across from Palmer Lane. Land trust volunteers will guide hikers along the Gallie Trail to the summit of Whiting Hill, about 801 feet. The hike will last until about noon. Bring a water bottle and trail snack. All welcome.
