MERRIMACK, N.H. — Police say three Siberian huskies that went missing from their New Hampshire home were mistaken for wolves and fatally shot.

Police in Merrimack said they got a tip about the incident last week following a big social media push to find the dogs, who disappeared on Sept. 29. The dogs made their way to a pig pen and started attacking the animals. The property owner thought they were wolves and shot them.

WMUR-TV reports police said they believe there was no malicious intent, and no one will be charged. They said the dogs weren’t wearing collars and the owner of the pigs was within his rights to defend them.
