CONCORD, N.H. — Heading into the final weeks of campaigning, Republican gubernatorial candidate Walt Havenstein has nearly four times as much cash on hand as New Hampshire’s Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan.

Candidates for statewide office reported Wednesday how much they’ve raised and spent since the Sept. 9 primary, revealing the overall health and spending habits of each campaign.

Since the primary, Hassan has raised $317,000, spent $1 million, and has $180,000 cash on hand. Havenstein has raised $757,000 in that period; most of it – $550,000 – his own money. He’s spent $650,000 in the five weeks since the primary and has $705,000 cash on hand.

Both campaigns say the numbers show their candidate is in a strong position to win on Nov. 4.

About 90 percent of the $1 million Hassan spent went toward buying airtime for television ads.
