FALMOUTH — Kate Kelley scored a pair of goals, both assisted by Sydney Bell, and fifth-seeded Falmouth beat No. 12 South Portland 4-0 in a Western Class A field hockey preliminary game Saturday.

Elle Fitzgerald scored an unassisted goal and assisted on a goal by Keunjoo Kim as the Yachtsmen (11-4) advanced to the quarterfinals Wednesday at fourth-seeded Thornton Academy.

Falmouth goalie Caroline Dyhrberg stopped six shots.

Grace Chitham made 19 saves for South Portland (5-10).

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 2, GREELY 0: Allison Watson scored off a rebound just 1:40 into the game to start the eighth-seeded Raiders (8-6-1) on their way to a win over the ninth-ranked Rangers (5-9-1) in a Western Class B prelim at Fryeburg.

Nicole Thurston added an insurance goal on a penalty stroke with four minutes left.

Jasmine Ramsay made two saves for the shutout. Greely goalie Elizabeth Brown stopped 11 shots.

BOYS’ SOCCER

SOUTH PORTLAND 3, BONNY EAGLE 1: Andrew Whipple scored the go-ahead goal with 25 minutes remaining as the Red Riots (8-3-2) used three second-half goals to rally past the Scots (4-6-3) at Standish.

Bonny Eagle opened the scoring with 58 seconds left in the first half on a goal by Brady Grass, assisted by Zack Gryskwicz.

Gary Maietta and Kervens Antoine also scored for the Red Riots, and Ahmed Suja had an assist. South Portland keeper Henry Curran stopped nine shots. Zack Moody made 15 saves for the Scots.

FALMOUTH 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Nigel Dunn opened the scoring on an assist from Jake Grade with just under five minutes left in the first half, and the Yachtsmen (11-0-2) added a pair of second-half goals in a win over the Rams (6-7) at Falmouth.

Ben Wuesthoff and Nick Sanzari also scored, and Jesse Melchiskey made one save to record the shutout.

Tyler Dickinson finished with six saves for the Rams.

CAPE ELIZABETH 1, YORK 1: Zack Gauthier scored with an assist from Josh Karpowicz with one minute left in regulation as York (3-6-4) earned a draw against Cape Elizabeth (7-4-2) at York.

Wes Parker scored an unassisted goal for Cape Elizabeth.

York keeper Connor Smith preserved the tie with an outstanding save in the closing seconds of the second overtime.

Calvin Barber had five saves for Cape Elizabeth.

WAYNFLETE 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Clancy Mitchell opened the scoring five minutes into the second half and Harry Baker-Connick added a goal with 15 minutes left to lift the Flyers (10-1-2) over the Patriots (6-5-2) at Gray.

Milo Belleau finished with four saves to earn the shutout. John Henry Villanueva stopped five shots for Gray-New Gloucester.

WELLS 6, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 1: Liam Bell notched a hat trick as the Warriors (5-6-2) cruised past the Panthers (6-5-2) at Wells,

Nick Wuerther, Charlie Durfee and Hatim Sharaf also scored for Wells. D.J. Nicholas got the lone goal for North Yarmouth Academy.

FREEPORT 4, POLAND 2: The Falcons (4-8-1) scored four straight goals to rally past the Knights (4-8-1) at Freeport.

After a scoreless first half, Poland jumped ahead on a Kyle Radziszewski free kick and an unassisted goal by Ben Campbell.

Jack Davenport put Freeport on the board with an assist from Jay Pier, Caleb Abbott got the tying goal and Quinton Libsack’s unassisted goal made it 3-2. Abbott added an insurance goal, assisted by Nate Smail.

A.R. GOULD 4, ISLESBORO 4: Mouhamed Roone scored a pair of first-half goals as the Bears (1-11-1) played to a draw against the Eagles (4-5) at South Portland.

Ryan Birkbeck and Mohamed Hussein each added a goal, and Keegan Gaouette had a pair of assists for A.R. Gould.

Islesboro got two goals from Sage Kelly, and one apiece from Finn Gibson and Brett Start.

Darien Wolfe had 16 saves for A.R. Gould. Ian Davis stopped six shots for Islesboro.

BONNY EAGLE 2, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Madi Freeman scored the go-ahead goal off a feed from Liz Bushey late in the first half, and the Scots (2-9-2) edged the Red Riots (2-10-1) at Standish.

Bonny Eagle’s Desiree Wright started the scoring 12 minutes into the game with an assist from Hailey Bell. Callie O’Brien answered with an unassisted goal for South Portland.

SANFORD 5, NOBLE 4: Rachael Fink’s goal with 6:10 remaining gave the Spartans (4-8-1) a win over the Knights (2-11) at Sanford.

Laura Kirkpatrick scored a pair of goals in the first half for Sanford, and Haley Davis and Vanessa Hodge added a goal apiece.

After falling behind 4-2 early in the second half, Noble tied it on goals by Tyler Chastney and Brenna Frye.

Bri Armenta had two goals and an assist for the Knights.

DEERING 1, BIDDEFORD 0: Meaghan Wells scored early in the first half and Emily Mooney made seven saves for the Rams (7-5-1) in a win over the Tigers (3-8-2) at Biddeford.

Peyton McKeown finished with 13 saves for the Tigers.

CAPE ELIZABETH 1, YORK 0: Sarah O’Connor scored the only goal as the Capers (8-4-1) edged the Wildcats (7-4-2) at Cape Elizabeth.

Tessa Goldstein recorded her sixth shutout of the season.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4, WELLS 0: Maria Valente had a goal and a pair of assists as the Patriots (7-6) eased past the Warriors (1-11-1) at Gray.

Sarah Giggey contributed a goal and an assist, and Hannah Dixon and Izzy Detroy each added a goal.

Zoey Adams made four saves for the shutout. Hannah Bragdon recorded seven saves for Wells.

LAKE REGION 2, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Kristen Huntress converted a penalty kick midway through the second half to break a scoreless deadlock as the Lakers (6-6-1) beat the Raiders (4-7-2) at Naples.

Lauren Jakobs added a breakaway goal with 3:31 remaining.

Isabel Scribner made six saves to earn the shutout.

HAMPDEN ACADEMY 3, MT. ARARAT 2: Paxton Oversmith, Dan Good and Tristan Gardner scored for the Broncos (10-3) in a win over the Eagles (8-3-2) at Thompson.

Mt. Ararat got goals from Robbie Small and Trevor Mayo. Eagles keeper Jon Roux made five saves.
