A 35-year-old Sanford man was arrested Monday on gun and drug charges after a confrontation between roommates led to a police search of his apartment, authorities said.

Jesse Roy was arrested by Sanford Police during a traffic stop about 8 p.m. after his roommates complained to police on Friday that Roy had threatened them with a gun.

When officers searched Roy’s apartment, they found what appeared to be about 94 grams of heroin, a handgun and $24,000 in cash. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of roughly $14,000.

Roy was charged with terrorizing with the use of a dangerous weapon and aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail at York County Jail, and is expected to appear in court Wednesday.

Sanford Police Detective Matt Jones said Roy is likely to face enhanced firearm charges because he has prior felony convictions.
