CUMBERLAND — Ben Leverett scored the winning goal with 16 minutes left Tuesday as second-seeded Greely held on for a 3-2 win over Wells in a Western Class B boys’ soccer quarterfinal.

Ben Ingraham gave the Rangers (10-3-2) the lead with the only goal of the first half, assisted by Jacob Nason.

Liam Bell, who scored two goals for Wells (7-6-2), tied the game on a penalty kick early in the second half. Hunter Graham provided the Rangers’ second goal.

Greely keeper John Wright had six saves; Chandler Bridge handled nine for the Warriors.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: The fourth-seeded Patriots’ winning goal came with less than a minute left in the first half on a penalty kick by Eric Wilcox, at Gray in a Western Class B quarterfinal.

Fifth-seeded Lincoln (7-5-3) had taken the lead eight minutes into the game when Sawyer Pinkham scored from the wing. Senior Tommy Cogswell tied the match for the Patriots (8-5-2) with an unassisted score 15 minutes later.

John Henry Villanueva made five saves on six shots for the Patriots. Lincoln keeper Wally Morris stopped 8 of 10.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, YORK 1: Third-ranked Cape Elizabeth (9-4-2) held off sixth-seeded York (3-8-4) with first-half goals from Eddie Galvin and Owen Thoreck in a Western Class B quarterfinal.

The Capers held York scoreless until the final 12:42 when Zack Gauthier scored.

York keeper Connor Smith made 10 saves. Cape goalies Andrew Kelly and Tim Brigham combined for three saves.

YARMOUTH 7, FRYEBURG 0: Adam LaBrie paced the top-ranked Clippers (11-2-2) with two goals in a win over the eighth seed, Fryeburg (6-7-3), at Yarmouth in a Western Class B quarterfinal.

LaBrie set a school scoring record with 20 goals in a season.

The Clippers took a 3-0 lead in the first half. LaBrie, Henry Coolidge and Ben Vigue all scored long-range goals. Patrick Grant delivered a low cross to the goalmouth for LaBrie’s second goal 59 seconds into the second half.

MARANACOOK 3, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: The top-seeded Black Bears (15-0) survived a frustrating first half and scored three times in the second half to win its Western Class C quarterfinal at Readfield.

Matt Dubois scored two goals and Kent Mohlar contributed a goal and an assist for Maranacook (15-0).

Goalie Michael Pingree made 10 saves for Sacopee Valley (5-8-3).

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 5, CHOP POINT 0: Ethan Spaulding scored three goals as fourth-ranked Greater Portland Christian School (12-2-1) shut out the fifth seed, Chop Point (7-6), at South Portland in a Western Class D quarterfinal.

Spaulding had the lone score of the first half. Ryan Waugh had a goal and an assist for GPCS. Ryan Hammond also had a goal, and Jeremiah Hammond, David Duval and John Konczal provided assists.

Goalie Mason Jones made five stops for the shutout.

FIELD HOCKEY

YORK 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Lily Posternak scored two goals as the top-ranked Wildcats (16-0) blanked No. 4 Kennebunk (10-6) at York in a Western Class B semifinal.

Posternak knocked in York’s first goal 45 seconds before the break, assisted by Kayla Kelly. Kelly’s twin sister, Kara Kelly, set up a second goal for Posternak in the second half. Devon Datsis scored an unassisted with three minutes left.

Livy Golini needed two stops for the shutout. Kennebunk’s Liz Kudas made nine stops.
