SCARBOROUGH — Kristen Murray tipped in two shots for goals to lead top-ranked Scarborough High to its third consecutive Western Class A field hockey championship with a 3-1 win over No.3 Marshwood Thursday night.

The Red Storm (17-0) will play Skowhegan (15-2) once again for the Class A state title, this time at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thomas College.

This will be the third year in a row the two play for the state title, fifth in seven years.

Murray twice tipped in Maddy Dobecki drives to give the Red Storm a 2-0 lead. Marshwood’s Lindsey Poirier scored a brilliant unassisted goal to cut the lead to 2-1 late in the second half.

But Scarborough’s Kristen Levesque scored off a scrum with 2:10 remaining to seal the victory.

Marshwood, which lost to Scarborough 3-0 in the season opener, finished 14-3.
