BOSTON — Boston police have charged a driver for ride service Uber with sexually assaulting a passenger.

Police allege the assault occurred at about 3:25 a.m. Sunday after the 30-year-woman and three friends used the service for a ride home.

Police say the driver dropped off three of the women, while the alleged victim stayed in the vehicle to be dropped off at another location.

The woman told officers that the driver groped her indecently several times.

The driver, 36-year-old Abderrahim Dakiri of Boston, was charged with indecent assault and battery.

An Uber spokeswoman says the driver passed a background check and the company is cooperating with investigators.

Dakiri remains in custody pending arraignment. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
