A Biddeford man remained in critical condition Monday at Maine Medical Center after flipping his car on a Maine Turnpike exit ramp in Portland early Sunday morning, a hospital spokesman said.

Tamer Tilahun, 24, lost control of his Mercury Marquis as he drove southbound on the Rand Road ramp of Exit 47 in Portland, Maine State Police said Sunday. Tilahun’s car went over the top of a snowbank before dropping several feet and coming to rest on its roof next to the turnpike.

State police spokesman Stephen McCausland said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, which was reported at about 2:30 a.m. No other vehicles or people were involved.
