The Hannaford stores in Portland have graciously opted to donate to hunger relief the plastic bag fee (tax) that has been mandated by the Portland City Council.
Hannaford already does many great things in this area, and this further effort is commendable. I can’t think of a better incentive to continue to use plastic bags – and to make sure we double bag.
