CLERMONT, Fla. –  Freshman Julia Saul pitched a three-hitter and Katie McLaughlin scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh to push Colby past MIT 1-0 in the first of two victories for the Mules on their opening day at Clermont, Florida.

Saul walked three and struck out two in outdueling Ellie Fodor, who also threw a three-hitter and struck out 11 for MIT (2-1).

Colby followed with 7-3 win over Oberlin (1-5), sparked by Kathleen Mason’s two hits, three RBI and a run scored.

Grace Farnkoff was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs. Megan Michie threw a complete game, allowing five hits and walking none. She had three strikeouts.

BASEBALL: Colby scored 10 runs in its first five innings of the season on the way to a 15-5 win over the Rochester Institute of Technology, before falling to RIT (5-1) 13-5 in the Russ Matt Invitational at Winter Haven, Florida.
