Maine State Police have broken up a burglary ring that stole electronics and jewelry from homes in York County.

Police charged four York County residents with burglary and one of them with possession of heroin this week.

Police got a break following a burglary in Alfred on Wednesday. The homeowner was able to provide a vehicle description and it was found Thursday, leading to the arrest of Brian Cerullo, 25, of Alfred, and Cathy Carle, 21, of Sanford, on charges of burglary and violating probation.

Police arrested Marissa Vieira, 23, of Sanford, at a home in that town, and charged her with burglary and with possessing a small amount of heroin. Carleton Young, 23, also of Sanford, was arrested during a traffic stop in Ogunquit.

Police say at least five burglaries have been reported in Lyman and Wells and they expect more to be reported as people discover items missing.

Cerullo, Vieira and Young were taken to York County Jail in Alfred, where are they are being held without bail after violating bail conditions from a previous burglary arrest, police said. Carle was ordered to appear in York County Superior Court on April 30.

Police say they have many pieces of jewelry, the owners of which have not been identified. Troopers also are trying to find a diamond wedding ring stolen in one of the burglaries, with the inscription BDL-CRD 9-15-73. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 324-1150.
