SCARBOROUGH — Grayson Post finished with two goals and an assist Thursday, and Alex LeBlanc totaled 14 saves to lead Westbrook to a 6-5 victory against Scarborough in a schoolboy lacrosse opener.

Thursday was the first day of the spring sports season throughout the state.

Curtis Knapton had a goal and four assists for the Blue Blazes, and Ryan Shackley, Noah Oliver and Tommy Kostopoulos added single goals.

THORNTON ACADEMY 20, MARSHWOOD 2: Isaac Sinclair scored all eight of his goals in the first 18 minutes to set the Trojans on their way at Saco.

Zack Bryant and Jon Giroux had three goals and one assist, and Charlie Katz added a goal and four assists for Thornton. Logan Smith and Tyler LaPointe answered for the Hawks.

FALMOUTH 22, FREEPORT 2: Bryce Kuhn had six goals and seven assists to lead the Yachtsmen at Falmouth.

Devin Russell added five goals and one assist, and George Gilbert finished the game with four goals and one assist for Falmouth.

Liam Tucker made 17 saves for the Yachtsmen.

YARMOUTH 17, YORK 2: Joe Oliva scored seven goals and assisted on an eighth as the Clippers downed York at Yarmouth.

Will Garrett and Matt Beatty had three goals and an assist each for Yarmouth. Tucker Fegan and Spencer Cribby scored for the Wildcats.

MESSALONSKEE 13, EDWARD LITTLE 7: The Eagles rode four goals from Dylan Jones and a strong all-around performance from centerman Jack Bernatchez at Auburn.

Messalonskee built a 4-1 lead after the first quarter thanks to a pair of goals from Jones, and one each from Caleb Chavarie and Conner Smith.

Messalonskee led 8-2 early in the third when Edward Little rallied behind Spencer Frahn, who scored two goals and assisted on another to make it 8-5 with 1:11 left in the third quarter.

But Jones scored off a nice feed from Bernatchez just eight seconds later for Messalonskee.

CONY 9, OXFORD HILLS 2: Ahead 3-1 at halftime, the Rams took control and pulled away in the second half at Waterville.

Joel Bennett’s goal with 10:18 left in the third quarter started the Rams’ second-half scoring.

Fifty seconds later, Chad Bickford scored with the Vikings a man down to push Cony’s lead to 5-1.

With Cony ahead 6-2 going into the fourth quarter, Dale Lapierre scored his third goal of the game with 10:54 left. Bickford added two more goals.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

GREELY 5, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Meghan O’Donovan scored for the Rangers with 5:31 left in regulation to tie the Capers at Cape Elizabeth.

Mae Dougherty, Kelsey Otley, Katherine Leggat-Barr and Nettie Cunningham added one goal apiece for Greely.

The Capers got one goal each from Mariah Deschino, Chloe Chapin, Hannah Bosworth, Lindsay Stewart and Mariah Deschino.

WAYNFLETE 13, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 4: Isabel Canning scored four goals, and Izzy Burdick added three goals and two assists to lead the Flyers at Yarmouth.

Melanie Regan scored three goals for NYA.

FALMOUTH 14, YARMOUTH 9: Sydney Bell had five goals and three assists to help Falmouth pull away from the Clippers at Yarmouth.

Leigh Bernardy added three goals for Falmouth, which led 6-4 at halftime.

Lilly Watson scored four goals and Shannon Fallon added three for Yarmouth.

BASEBALL

YORK 3, TRAIP ACADEMY 1: Ryan Houde singled, Trevor Labonte doubled and both scored when Matt Pratt’s grounder was mishandled to give York a 2-1 fifth-inning lead at Kittery.

Labonte finished with two of the three hits allowed by Traip pitchers Josh Schneier and Trevor Salema. Henry Driscoll rapped two of the three singles yielded by Wildcats pitcher Dan Bock.

SOFTBALL

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 8, SACOPEE VALLEY 7: Maria Valente drove in the eventual winning run with a single in the top of the seventh inning for the Patriots at South Hiram.

Skye Conley add a pair of hits for the Patriots, who erased a three-run deficit with a five-run second and took a 7-6 lead in the top of the sixth.

Bryann Hink and Miranda Schaubhut had three hits apiece, and Hink also drove in three runs for the Hawks.

YORK 9, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Stephanie Rundlett pitched a no-hitter and York took advantage of five unearned runs at Kittery.

Kylie Blenk and Sophia Stephens each had a pair of hits for the Wildcats.
