BROCKTON, Mass. — Brendon Joyce and Dylan Morris each belted a three-run homer and scored three times, and the University of Southern Maine outslugged UMass-Boston for a 17-10 victory in a Little East Conference baseball game on Tuesday.

The Huskies (19-9, 7-3) built a 7-2 lead before putting the Beacons (13-12, 5-5) away with a seven-run fourth inning. The first five batters of the inning reached on three errors, a single and a walk for three runs. Joyce’s homer to right added three more, and Nick DiBiase capped the rally with an RBI double.

Tom Zarro added a two-run triple for Southern Maine, and Jake Welch also drove in a pair of runs.

HUSSON 6, BATES 3: Seth Freudenberger and Andrew Curran each hit a two-run single during a five-run second for the Eagles (22-13) against Bates (9-12) at Bangor.

Bates scored three runs in the top of the sixth behind Conor Reenstierna’s two-run double. Reenstierna then scored on a double steal.

UMASS-BOSTON 14, USM 11: Michael Kennedy scored six goals, Noah Ellis added four goals and an assist, and the Beacons (5-9, 1-5 Little East) beat the Huskies (6-6, 1-5) at Boston.

Austin Watts’ six goals led the Huskies. Jaymz McStowe added three, and Keegan Smith had a goal and four assists.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

PLYMOUTH STATE 14, USM 10: Caroline Vonachen scored her four goals during an 8-0 run that gave the Panthers (11-3, 5-0 Little East) a 13-8 lead over Southern Maine (5-11, 2-3) in New Hampton, New Hampshire.

Sarah Pelligrinelli powered the Huskies with six goals and an assist.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

MICHIGAN: Guard Caris LeVert said he will return for his senior season after a year cut short by injury.

LeVert said the move will allow him time to develop as a player and work toward his degree.

LeVert was leading the team in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounds (4.9), assists (3.7), steals (1.7) and minutes (35.8) when he was injured after 18 games last season.
