SANFORD — Logan McCarthy singled home Jack Casale in the top of the 11th inning to give Cheverus a 4-3 win over Sanford in an SMAA baseball game Saturday.

McCarthy sent the game to extra innings with a two-run double in the seventh inning, driving in Jack Whaley and Casale.

McCarthy finished 3 for 6, and Alex Libby had a single and a double for Cheverus (3-0).

Brad Bouchard and Xavier Chase each had three singles for Sanford (0-3), as six Spartans recorded at least two hits.

BIDDEFORD 5, GORHAM 4: Casey Twomey struck out eight to help the Tigers (2-2) edge the Rams (1-3) at Biddeford.

Twomey pitched into the seventh inning, giving up three hits, one earned run and two walks.

The Tigers plated five runs in the bottom of the sixth to erase a 1-0 deficit. Brady Crepeau hit an RBI single and Nate Huot belted an RBI double.

SOFTBALL

GORHAM 5, NOBLE 2: Winning pitcher Julia Gaudette drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, and Kayli Leavitt followed with a two-run single as the Rams (2-2) defeated the Knights (2-3) at Gorham.

Lindsey Wilcox had a triple and single for Gorham. Shayla Harris added a pair of hits, including a double.

Morgan Perillo hit a pair of singles for Noble.

MT. ABRAM 13, WINTHROP 5: Olivia Davenport had three hits, drove in three runs and was the winning pitcher for the Roadrunners (2-3) in a victory over the Ramblers (0-4) at Winthrop.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

WAYNFLETE 10, GREELY 7: Isabel Canning and Helen Gray-Bauer combined for five goals as the Flyers (3-1) edged the Rangers (1-1) at Cumberland.

Nina Moore added a pair of goals for Waynflete.

Meghan O’Donovan led Greely with three goals. Courtney Sullivan and Brie Nicolaou each scored twice, and Greta Van Curan stopped 12 shots.

YORK 10, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Allie Lawlor scored three goals and set up another to lead the Wildcats (3-0) over the Capers (1-1) at York.

Kara Kelly, Mackenzie Mallett and Emma Rohrer finished with two goals apiece for York, and Livy Golini made eight saves.

KENNEBUNK 17, WELLS 1: The Rams (3-0) opened an 11-0 halftime lead and cruised to a victory over the Warriors (0-3) at Kennebunk.

Jenny Bush finished with six goals and an assist. Hayley Fecko added four goals and an assist, and Olivia Sanford scored twice.

MORSE 8, GARDINER 4: Kat Sener made 20 saves, and the Shipbuilders (1-1) jumped out to a 5-2 halftime lead on the way to a win over the Tigers (0-3) at Bath.

Sophie Sreden scored a pair of goals, and Madison Olsen added a goal and an assist.

Nickyia Lovely and Bryce Smith each scored twice for Gardiner.

FALMOUTH 5, FREEPORT 2: Cam Guarino struck out nine, walked one and scattered seven hits to lead the Yachtsmen (2-1) over the Falcons (0-3) at Freeport.

Falmouth scored three runs in the top of the first, aided by Robbie Armitage’s RBI double and Caleb Lydick’s sacrifice fly.

Jack Davenport pitched a complete game for the Falcons.

FRIDAY’S SOFTBALL

LINCOLN ACADEMY 9, ERSKINE ACADEMY 6: Lincoln (5-0) scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to rally past Erskine (2-2) at South China.

Morgan Achorn singled home the tying run in the sixth and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Lindsay Brackett.

Lincoln got an RBI single from Abby Farrin and a run-producing double by Miranda Achorn in the seventh.

Kaitlyn Sutter went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored for Erskine.
