A Berwick house was heavily damaged by a fire Saturday night, fire officials said.
The fire at 67 Sawmill Hill was reported about 6 p.m., said Berwick Assistant Chief Bruce Plante. The tenant was home and was alerted by a neighbor that there were flames at the rear of the house.
Plante said it took firefighters more than four hours to put out the fire and clear the scene. The damage was so extensive that the house will likely have to be demolished, he said.
There was no initial indication of what caused the fire, Plante said, and the State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to help make that determination.
Plante said no one was hurt in the fire.
