Veteran basketball coach Mike Francoeur has been named the new boys’ basketball coach at Bonny Eagle High, the school announced Tuesday.

He replaces Phil Bourassa who resigned after six seasons in February.

Francoeur has 25 years of coaching experience at the high school and college level. He has been a head coach at Edward Little, Deering and Lake Region high schools, and also an assistant coach at the University of Southern Maine and St. Joseph’s College.

Francoeur coached Deering to Western Maine Class A championships in 2001 and 2002.

As a player, he was a starter on the Westbrook High 1984 Class A state champions and was a member of USM’s Division III Final Four team in 1989.
