A Portland man was charged with criminal threatening after he allegedly walked into a restaurant and threatened to shoot and kill people Monday night.

John Aboda, 33, was arrested outside Local 188 on Congress Street in Portland at about 11:30 p.m., police said.

Witnesses told police that Aboda walked in and became disruptive and threatened people, and when asked to leave, pulled a 6-inch knife and waved it around, police said.

A bartender tried to get him to leave, but he threatened to slash and kill the employee and then said, “I will kill you all,” police said.

He did leave, though, and when police arrived, he walked up to the cruiser and was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, police said. Aboda appeared intoxicated, though he had not been a patron at the restaurant, police said.

Nobody was injured.
