CARTHAGE — A father and son from Maine have been arrested in separate drug raids.
Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols says 51-year-old Russell Smith and 29-year-old Anthony Smith, both of Carthage, were arrested in their homes Thursday and charged with unlawful trafficking in heroin.
Police say Anthony Smith faces additional charges for allegedly swallowing some of the drugs found in his possession. Police say he was hospitalized.
State police, Franklin County authorities and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency executed search warrants at two locations. Police say a small amount of each drug was seized, along with drug paraphernalia and cash.
Police say Anthony Smith is on probation and will be held without bail after his hospital release. Russell Smith remains jailed.
