Stephen Kosgei Kibet of Kenya won the 18th annual TD Beach to Beacon 10K road race Saturday morning in Cape Elizabeth in an unofficial time of 28 minutes, 28 seconds.

It was Kibet’s first victory at Beach to Beacon; he finished second in 2012 and 2014. Moses Kipsiro of Uganda was second in 28:39, followed by Dainel Salel of Kenya in 28:40. Eric Jenkins of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, was the top American finisher and placed fourth overall.

Wude Ayalew of Ethiopia won the women’s race in an unofficial time of 31:56. She was a runner-up at Beach to Beacon in 2010. Diane Nukuri of Burundi was second in 31:59. The fastest American woman was Alexi Pappas of Eugene, Oregon, in 32:55.

Ben Decker of Yarmouth (32:38) and Erica Jesseman of Scarborough (34:52) were the top finishers among Maine runners. Jesseman was 10th overall in the women’s race and sixth among Americans.

James Senbata of Champaign, Illinois, won the wheelchair division in a course record of 21:46. Christina Kouros of Cape Elizabeth won the women’s wheelchair race for the fourth time in 39:39.

More than 6,000 runners registered for Maine’s largest road race. Skies were mostly sunny with a temperature of 73 degrees at the race’s 8 a.m. start.

Ninety-year-old Dottie Gray of Kirkwood, Missouri, competed in the race for the 15th time. Organizers allowed Gray and Karen Rand McWatters to begin the race one hour before the other runners. McWatters, formerly of Westbrook, lost the lower portion of her left leg in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
