A woman was killed when her motorcycle crashed Sunday evening in the Androscoggin County town of Durham.
Chief Deputy William Gagne of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said the woman, who was not identified pending notification of her relatives, was traveling north on Route 125 when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the west side of the road, and struck a utility pole.
The woman was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed is believed to have contributed to the crash.
Gagne said the cause of the crash, which was reported at 7:10 p.m., remains under investigation. A section of Route 125 was closed while officers reconstructed the crash.
