A South Portland man faces drug charges that he was selling cocaine, ecstasy, LSD and ketamine in the Portland area, according to police.

Brandon York, 30, was charged with Class B trafficking in scheduled drugs following an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and South Portland Police Department into drug activity in Greater Portland. He was taken into custody at 5 p.m. Friday when agents from the Cumberland District Task Force served a warrant at his house at 8 Rosetti Ave., the MDEA announced Monday.

During his arrest, York was found in possession of what police believe to be ketamine, LSD and ecstasy, according to police. A search of his home yielded cocaine, more ecstasy and $5,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Cmdr. Scott Pelletier of the MDEA said police during the monthlong investigation seized more than 150 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of ecstasy, 490 grams of marijuana, 300 grams of ketamine, 150 doses of LSD and $12,000 in drug proceeds. The estimated street value of the drugs is $25,000.

Ketamine is a general anesthetic used on people and animals. Abuse of the drug can lead to powerful hallucinations. It is often referred to as a “date rape” drug because it causes confusion and amnesia.

Pelletier said the drug trafficking investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are anticipated.

York was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland, where bail was set at $500.
