Air Force National Guard Airman Kenneth B. Reed graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the husband of Carrie Reed and has two children. His parents are David and Susan Reed of Brunswick, and his wife’s parents are Barry and Karen Fake of Georgetown. Reed graduated in 1994 from the Hyde School, Bath, and earned an associate degree in 2002 from Southern Maine Technical College, South Portland.

Navy Lt. j.g. Connor D. Bibb graduated from advanced helicopter flight training held at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Fla. He was taught to fly one of two versions of the Navy’s H-60 Seahawk helicopters. Bibb is from Jericho, Vt., and graduated in 2012 from the University of Southern Maine, Portland.

The Maine Army and Air National Guard recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Joint Forces Headquarters facility located off the Blue Star Memorial Highway in Augusta. The new facility will be named Camp Chamberlain, after former Maine governor and adjutant general Maj. Gen. Joshua L. Chamberlain, a Civil War hero. The building will provide office space for human resources, intelligence, operations, logistics, and resource guidance. Camp Keyes will continue to provide family and veterans outreach services, printing plant operations, training sites, resource management, shipping and receiving, and facilities maintenance.

Bedard Pharmacy and Medical Supplies in Auburn donated the use of 27 wheelchairs to the Maine chapter of Honor Flight for its weekend trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization that honors veterans by transporting them to Washington to visit the memorials dedicated to them. The Maine chapter of Honor Flight aims for three trips each year with priority given to the most senior veterans or those with a terminal illness. More information can be found at honorflight.org.
