Jake Tomkinson of Cheverus made five saves and Bob Brittingham of Portland stopped three shots as the teams played to a 0-0 draw in a boys’ soccer season opener Thursday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Tomkinson kept the game scoreless with a one-on-one stop midway through the first half.

Later in the first half, Bob Brittingham blocked a deflected header and followed up with a save off the rebound.

FIELD HOCKEY

FALMOUTH 8, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Kate Kelley scored two goals, and Sydney Bell added a goal and two assists as the Yachtsmen handled the Capers at Cape Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Amadei made three saves for Falmouth. Eden Divney stopped 19 shots for the Capers.

CAMDEN HILLS 4, WATERVILLE 0: Emily Daggett scored all four goals for the Windjammers at Rockport.

Willow Grinnell assisted on both of Daggett’s first-half goals. Daggett scored the third goal unassisted, and Carolyn Keefe set up the final goal.

Sara Schafer made 12 saves for the win, while Coby Dangler stopped 17 shots for Waterville.

LEAVITT 3, MT. VIEW 2: Ashley Mathieu’s goal with 15:44 remaining was the difference as the Hornets held off the Mustangs at Turner.

Allie Belaine gave Leavitt 1-0 halftime lead.

Reanna Boulay tied the game off a corner early in the second half before goals by Kaitlyn Leclerc and Mathieu made it 3-1.

Michelle Bilodeau got a late goal for Mt View.

Hailey DeMascio stopped nine shots for the Hornets, while Alexis Bowman had 11 saves for the Mustangs.

WINSLOW 2, BELFAST 0: Sabrina Jandreau put in a feed from Natalie Greene in the first half and Jessica Greeley converted a corner in the second half as the visiting Black Raiders downed the Lions.

Delaney Wood made 17 saves for Winslow. Morgan Fernald stopped 13 shots for Belfast.

MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 14, MARANACOOK 0: April McAlpine, Kali Doiron and Victoria Friend each recorded a hat trick to lead the Huskies past the Black Bears at Pittsfield.

Riley Trafton, Alison Hughes, Taylor Hall, Madisyn Hartley and Addie Williams added a goal apiece. McAlpine also had four assists.

Sarah Mason stopped 10 shots for Maranacook.
