TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. _ Police are seeking to criminally charge a 15-year-old boy they say dumped hot soup over a girl’s head in the hallway of a Massachusetts high school.

The girl’s family told The Sun of Lowell that the attack caused second-degree burns.

Police say paperwork seeking a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon was filed in court Monday. A probable cause hearing will likely be scheduled next week.

The alleged attack occurred Oct. 15 at Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsborough.
