A Carthage man is being sought by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, which has a warrant for his arrest following an allegation of a domestic assault early Sunday morning that left a woman with serious injuries.
Benjamin Bowie II, 47, of Judkins Road is at large, according to a news release Monday from Sheriff Scott Nichols. Bowie is facing Class B domestic aggravated assault charges.
Franklin County Sheriff Deputy Andrew Morgan went to 27 Francis Place in Carthage at 12:47 a.m. Sunday after a woman said a young woman had shown up at her house naked and bleeding from the neck, according to the release.
The caller said she knew the woman to be the girlfriend of Bowie, who lived nearby.
Morgan was told that Bowie and the victim had been in Bowie’s pickup truck coming from Rumford when some sort of dispute occurred. The dispute became heated and Bowie allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair and slammed her head through the passenger side window, which cut her neck, causing a severe injury.
She was later taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for surgery. The release said she was still in the hospital Monday, but her condition was not available.
Assisting Morgan was Lt. David St. Laurent, Lt. David Rackliffe, Detective Ken Charles and Cpl. Matt Brann.
