The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency on Tuesday found items discarded in a cemetery in Mattawamkeag that were consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine, the 51st meth-related law enforcement response so far this year.

The items were found in a wooded area behind the cemetery on Hathaway Road. Officials believe the items were probably discarded there.

Within the last week, drug agents have found active meth labs in houses in Brewer, Bangor and Wells, dump sites in Bangor and Paris, and responded to an incident in South Portland where meth-related ingredients were found in a backpack.

Officers from the Lincoln Police Department located the Mattawamkeag site as part of an ongoing investigation.

The incident marks the seventh time in the last two weeks the MDEA has responded to a methamphetamine incident. The number of meth-related incidents in 2015 marks a record high. There were 37 in 2014.
