JEFF LAUZIER, 37, of Lisbon Falls, is one of three owners of Loyal Citizen Clothing, a T-shirt company that incorporates historic images – many of which are Maine-centric – into its designs. Lauzier works full-time as a manager at Joseph’s clothing store on Fore Street in Portland, but he moonlights as a T-shirt maker, which brings in an additional $15,000 in yearly income. The shirts are designed by business partner Julian Redman and printed at Arm Factory, an East Bayside screen-printing studio. Afterward, Lauzier stitches tags into the collars in preparation for sales. For Lauzier, the creativity involved is the most satisfying aspect of the work. The toughest part is “finding time to devote to it” while holding a full-time job. “I wish I could make it on two hours sleep,” he said. Lauzier and Redman are “serious students of history,” particularly Maine history, which influences their style, Lauzier said. “Maine is a grand place,” he said. “We are amazing people with a ridiculous work ethic and we are very proud of the state that we live in. We embrace that ideal.”
