Bradley Beaulieu, Marshwood wrestling: The junior earned the outstanding wrestler award at the Spartan tournament in Sanford. Competing in the 132-pound division, the unbeaten Beaulieu pinned two out-of-state opponents and beat another by a 16-1 technical fall before controlling the talented Caleb Austin of Mountain Valley in a 7-2 championship win. Beaulieu was also the outstanding wrestler of the tournament as a freshman.

HONORABLE MENTION

Ethan Belanger, Sanford basketball: Belanger, a junior guard, scored 30 of his 46 points in the second half as the Spartans (3-6) upset 8-2 Oxford Hills, 79-65.

Cam Nigro, Scarborough hockey: The senior wing scored two unassisted goals in two games, including a short-hander against Falmouth, and added an assist in two wins to keep the Red Storm undefeated.

Griffin Madden, Scarborough track and field: Madden, a senior, finished second in the 55-meter hurdles at the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, New Hampshire, running a personal-best and Maine-leading time of 7.77 seconds in the final heat.

GIRLS

Maddie Hasson, South Portland basketball: Hasson, a senior forward, scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Riots beat previously undefeated McAuley 57-45, ending an 11-game losing streak to the Lions. Earlier, Hasson scored 19 points in a 71-13 win over Noble.

HONORABLE MENTION

Caitlin Tycz, Brunswick swimmer: A junior, Tycz won the 500-yard freestyle during a tri-meet with Messalonskee and Mt. Ararat in a time of 5 minutes, 15.96 seconds for the fastest in the state this season. It marked the sixth individual swim event (of eight) in which Tycz posted the fastest time of any girl in Maine, and seventh in Class A.

Lily Johnston, Freeport Nordic skier: A senior, Johnston won the 5K Leavitt Hornet Classic race Saturday by nearly a minute over a field of 131 from 20 different schools, in 15 minutes, 14 seconds.

Samantha Curran, Thornton Academy track and field: Curran, a junior, was third in the shot put at the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, New Hampshire, with a distance of 38 feet, 5 ¼ inches – the top throw among Maine Class A competitors.
