CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Maine man remains in the hospital in serious condition after a small plane flipped and caught fire at a West Virginia airport, killing a flight instructor.
Yeager Airport spokesman Mike Plante said Arrin Jay Farrar of Plymouth, Maine, was injured in Saturday’s crash and underwent surgery after the incident. He went to Charleston Area Medical Center and remains in serious condition.
Plante previously confirmed that the flight instructor, Brenda Gilland Jackson, was killed in the crash.
The Cessna 172 Sky Hawk four-seat plane was taking off around noon Saturday when it flipped over and caught fire.
The National Transportation Safety Board expects an initial report on the crash within a few weeks and a complete report within several months.
