SOUTH HIRAM — Brandon Burnell went 2 for 3 and drove in four runs Tuesday as Sacopee Valley rebounded a day after losing for the first time, defeating North Yarmouth Academy 14-3 in a five-inning Western Maine Conference baseball game.

Patrick Westberry hit a bases-clearing double to highlight a six-run fifth inning that ended it for the Hawks (9-1) against NYA (4-5).

Dana Shea added a pair of singles for Sacopee.

PORTLAND 3, MARSHWOOD 0: Dan Marzilli held Marshwood (4-5) to five hits as the Bulldogs (8-0) won at Portland.

Marzilli struck out three, walked two and picked off two runners at first base.

Nick Archambault homered and doubled for Portland. Jake Knop had two hits and Dom Tocci opened the scoring with an RBI triple in a two-run first.

Keith Dorr of Marshwood allowed six hits in six innings.

WESTBROOK 5, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Bailey Ryan held the Trojans (6-1) to one run as the Blue Blazes (2-4) won at Westbrook.

Ryan broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning, reaching on a single and eventually scoring on Corey Walker’s base hit. Westbrook pulled away in the fifth when Justin Copetta, Bailey Sawyer and Keigan Sears scored on wild pitches.

Ryan finished with two hits and two runs. Dylan Francoeur also had a pair of hits for Westbrook. Brogan Searle-Belanger and Zachary Ham were repeat hitters for the Trojans.

GORHAM 5, BIDDEFORD 0: Sam Kilborn finished with five strikeouts and no walks in a three-hitter for the Rams (4-3) against the Tigers (1-5) at Gorham.

Lucas Roop had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for Gorham, which scored three runs in the fifth inning to extend its lead to 5-0.

Trenton Bassingthwaite also had two hits and scored on a straight steal of home.

SANFORD 8, NOBLE 5: Keith Kerrigan hit a bases-clearing single in the sixth inning to give the Spartans (1-7) the lead for good against the Knights (0-9) at North Berwick.

Kerrigan finished with three singles, and Tylar Burgess, James Roche and Frank Veino each added a pair of hits for Sanford.

Kasey Rogers had two singles and Tyler Merrill added a double for Noble.

BONNY EAGLE 9, CHEVERUS 5: The Scots (5-4) scored four runs in the sixth inning, including a bases-loaded double to left by Drake Laughlin, to defeat the Stags (4-3) at Standish.

Noah Scribner went 2 for 4 and scored a pair of runs for Bonny Eagle. Reid Wallingford added a pair of hits.

Jared Brooks and Chris Vallee each had to singles and Jared Lapoint chipped in with a double for Cheverus.

TRAIP ACADEMY 10, WAYNFLETE 0: Alex Foye pitched a two-hitter for the Rangers (3-4), who used a nine-run fifth inning to down the Flyers (3-5) in five innings at Portland.

YARMOUTH 12, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 5: The visiting Clippers (3-3) scored six goals in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Panthers (1-4) at Yarmouth.

Anders Newberg scored four goals for Yarmouth, William Jacobs had three goals and a pair of assists, and Patrick Grant and Matthew Beatty each scored twice.

Trevor Lachance led NYA with three goals. Cooper Hogan and Ryan Baker also scored.

Liam Harke and Cam Libby of the Clippers combined for six saves. Jeremy Thelvin stopped five shots for the Panthers.

WINDHAM 22, NOBLE 0: Zack Callahan scored seven goals for the Eagles (6-0), who received scoring from eight players against the Knights (0-6) at Windham.

Tyler Woolston had three goals and an assist, and Griffin MacVane added two goals and an assist.

Jordan Armeta of Noble and Jacob Dionne of Windham each recorded eight saves.

CHEVERUS 15, BONNY EAGLE 1: Jesse Pierce had two goals and three assists, and Mackenzie Hoglund added three goals for the Stags (5-1) against the Scots (2-4) at Portland.

Frank Curran, Finn Cawley and Colby Anton scored two goals apiece for the Stags, and Curran also had an assist.

SCARBOROUGH 18, DEERING 10: Mark Guerette had five goals and two assists, and Marco Manfra added four goals and four assists as the Red Storm (5-2) downed Deering (1-4) at Scarborough.

Andrew Johnson and Bryce Randall scored three goals each for the Rams.
