BOWIE, Md. — Jason Garcia threw six scoreless innings, striking out six and walking three as the Bowie Baysox handled the Portland Sea Dogs 6-1 on Thursday night.

Bowie (29-37) took the lead early on a three-run homer to right field by Joey Terdoslavich in the second inning off Portland starter Keith Couch.

It was only the second home run surrendered by Couch this season.

The Baysox added two runs in the fourth on a single by Chance Sisco and a fielder’s choice from Garabez Rosa.

Bowie added an insurance run off relief pitcher Ty Buttrey in the seventh.

Cole Sturgeon provided the lone run for Portland (22-43) in the eighth inning with a single that scored Cody Decker, who reached on a double.

Andrew Benintendi went 2 for 4 for the Sea Dogs, while Tzu-Wei Lin added a pair of hits.

Portland is now 0-11-2 in its last 13 road series dating to 2015.

Portland moves on to Richmond, Virginia, to start a weekend series on Friday against the Flying Squirrels.
