Minor accidents have been reported in York County Tuesday morning because of icy roads.

The accidents were described as slide-offs by a dispatcher at the York County Regional Communications Center. No major accidents or injuries have been reported.

Drivers, especially in inland towns, should be cautious as rain moves into the area. Roads in towns including Waterboro and Alfred are covered with ice, according to dispatchers.

By 11 a.m., the Maine Department of Transportation lowered the speed limit along I-295 to 40 mph between Topsham and Gardiner because of slick road conditions.

Temperatures in York County were hovering around the freezing mark Tuesday morning.

Rain is expected throughout the day, with the heaviest downpours in the early evening.
