Two people were arrested on drug charges early Monday at a South Portland hotel.

The Southern Maine Regional SWAT Team entered a room at a Main Street hotel at 5:45 a.m. to serve a search warrant as part of a drug-related investigation. During a search of the room, police found suspected crack cocaine that was prepackaged, packaging material, a scale and cash, police said.

Rusty Swift, a 36-year-old transient, and 33-year-old Kelcy Frederick of Scarborough were arrested and charged with trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a Class B felony.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by the South Portland Police Department’s Community Response Unit and the MDEA.
